Custom made Oak Washstand (Copy)

I was commissioned to make a free standing Oak unit to hold a stone sink for a lovely couple not far from Romsey.

I used a mix of reclaimed English oak and sustainably grown character oak for this project, the legs were reclaimed from a local barn where they had been used as part of the frame work of the building, the mix between old and new materials always works well aesthetically and is often necessary these days as finding larger pieces of reclaimed timber is getting more difficult.

I finished this Oak Washstand with a waterproof product that keeps the Oak looking dry and does not change the natural colour of the wood, It’s now in its new home where it fits right in.

The most popular Dining Tables over the last 5 years that I have made are using a single slab of Oak or Elm for the top with a reclaimed wooden rustic base, the contrast between these two old and new timbers works really well, you can however have whatever look you're after!

Benches are a good option too which compliment a bespoke Dining Table, made from the same timber they sit nicely underneath the table when it's not in use.
